Naturally Fuller, More Defined Lips

We believe the world needs more smiles — smiles like yours. However, many men and women feel less-than-great about their smiles. If you feel like your lips are thin, you have too much space between your lips and nose, or you would like your lips to appear more pronounced then you’re probably a good candidate for a lip lift. Unlike a filler or injection, this in-office procedure increases the amount of visible pink lip tissue, making it a good way to add height in addition to volume.

Lip lifts are also more permanent than fillers and injectables, so they will require no upkeep or maintenance. Plan to rest or avoid strenuous activity immediately after the procedure. Results will be apparent after swelling reduces, about 72 hours post-surgery. Sutures can be removed in 5-7 days. The results last a lifetime! Lip lift is a popular procedure for the providers at Quintessa, and we’ve been bringing smiles to Wisconsin residents for years. In addition to lip lifts, we also specialize in chin implants, neck lift surgery, and more. Schedule your personalized consultation today!

Our Two-step Process

1. The Upper Lip Lift Procedure

One of the most common types of lip lift surgeries performed at Quintessa is called the upper lip lift (subnasal lip lift). The upper lip refers to the area between the base of the nose and the pink of the lip. This bullhorn technique shortens the upper lip to improve the look of the lip area and smile. Double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Campbell, performs this procedure by first making a small incision under the nose and removing skin from that area, shortening the distance from the upper lip to the base of the nose.

The amount of skin removed is customized to each patient in order to achieve the best results. And with the use of a local anesthetic, our doctors numb the upper lip area during the procedure to eliminate pain. After treatment, Tylenol, ibuprofen and cold compression make any lingering discomfort easy to tolerate.

2. Upper Lip Lift Recovery and Results

Some patients experience swelling or pain, which passes in 72 hours or less. The sutures will be removed in about a week following the procedure. The scar typically heals so well that most patients cannot see it.

This procedure results in a more pleasant shape of the lip area. In addition, the patient’s teeth will show more to create a more natural smile. These results along with your rejuvenated confidence will last a lifetime.

What Are the Different Types of Lip Lift Procedures Available?

The most common lip lift procedure we perform is the Upper Lip Lift, also known as the subnasal or bullhorn lip lift. This technique shortens the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip, resulting in a more pronounced and youthful lip appearance.

Lip Lift FAQs:

Am I a Suitable Candidate for a Lip Lift Surgery?

Ideal candidates for a lip lift are individuals who:

  • Have an elongated space between the nose and upper lip
  • Desire increased upper lip fullness without the use of fillers
  • Are in good overall health

A consultation with Dr. Andrew Campbell will help determine if this procedure aligns with your aesthetic goals.

What Does the Lip Lift Procedure Involve, and How Long Does It Take?

The lip lift procedure typically includes:

  • Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is administered for comfort during the surgery
  • Incision: A small incision is made at the base of the nose, following the natural contours to minimize visible scarring
  • Tissue Removal: A small strip of skin is excised to lift the upper lip
  • Closure: The incision is closed with fine sutures

The procedure typically takes about 1 to 2 hours, and patients can usually return home the same day.

How Does a Lip Lift Differ From Lip Fillers?

A lip lift is a surgical procedure that permanently shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip, enhancing the lip’s appearance without adding volume. In contrast, lip fillers are injectable treatments that add temporary volume to the lips, enhancing fullness and shape. While fillers can be adjusted over time, a lip lift offers a permanent solution for those seeking a more defined upper lip without the need for ongoing maintenance.
