How Does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting utilizes controlled cooling technology to selectively target and freeze fat cells without damaging surrounding tissues. Over time, your body naturally processes and eliminates the treated fat cells, revealing a more contoured figure.
The fat-freezing aspect feels similar to having a very cold ice pack applied to the body. Once the CoolSculpting applicator is on the tissue, it will reach a temperature that is safe for the body, but cold enough to eliminate the fat cells. The process works because fat cells react differently to cold than other cells in the body, so nerves, skin, or other tissues are not affected. When we freeze these fat cells with CoolSculpting, the fat cells expire and cannot grow back, leaving you with permanent results.
Every application to each patient’s area of concern will reduce the area by 20% to 25% on average. That said, we typically recommend patients two or more treatments per area for optimal results. We carry a large number of applicators for different areas on the body and treatments can range from 35 to 75 minutes each.
